ABOUT NAMI NEVADA COUNTY

Advocacy          Support         Education

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Facing schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and anxiety disorders can be a traumatic and isolating experience for individuals and their families. Learning to manage these major medical conditions, commonly called mental illnesses, can be challenging and overwhelming.

Through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), you don’t have to cope with these illnesses alone – we know firsthand what that is like and we can help. Our volunteers provide compassionate support through group meetings and on an individual basis. We help individuals and families learn about the illnesses, what they can do, and how treatment can help restore lives.

Our goals are to support, educate, and advocate. With a strong voice, we collaborate with our county’s mental health, justice, medical, educational, and community partners to understand that serious mental illnesses – schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar illness, obsessive compulsive, borderline personality disorders and anxiety disorders – are highly treatable.

We advocate to improve services and eliminate discrimination.

Treatment, recovery, hope, and achieving a meaningful life are possible!
